1984 - 1990:
This section of the exhibit covers a period when documentation of the governance system by the chiefs increases dramatically. There is also preparation of Gitxsan Simgigyat (hereditary chiefs) for testifying in what becomes known as the world-renowned Delgamuukw land title action. The continuing frustration of not being able to reconcile Gitxsan and Western governance systems leads the Simgigyat to open their story to the public through mass media channels. The collision course of two worldviews results in direct action on the land and non-violent protest as highways, forest service roads and railways are blockaded.
